My Secret Winter Weapons for boosting the immune system

We’re now into the fourth week of January and one of my New Year’s resolutions is still going strong(ish).  We won’t talk about the others.

January is always a really important month for me in my quest for better health.

Why? Because in December I always get ill.  I can’t actually remember a Christmas Day when I’ve not been sneezing into my turkey.

I expect anyone running a retail business over the festive period experiences the same. You lose the last three months of the year and wake up in January, wondering what happened – vowing to be kinder to your body in the New Year.

I’ve written before about adrenal burnout and its effect on our immune system. And I’m forever talking about Vitamin D deficiency which is a very real problem in the UK.

So… here are my secret weapons to tackling both over the Winter months.

Of course you should always try and get your vitamins from your diet but I’m forever eating on the hop. Besides, by my calculation you’d have to eat 14 eggs a day to hit the recommended Vitamin D intake!

Vitamin D – boosts immune function but also promotes calcium absorption in the gut. So is especially important for babies as their bones grow and strengthen.

Glisodin – an antioxidant powerhouse derived from cantaloupe melon. I’m still to be convinced but Mark at Whole Foods Camden swears by the stuff so I’m giving it another go.

Reishi Mushrooms – recommended to me by our lovely Canadian Account Manager, Marissa, they strengthen the immune system and relieve fatigue and stress.

Let’s see if I’m the picture of glossy, glowing health by Valentine’s Day. Off to make myself a cup of green tea.

What is the verdict? How are you feeling after trialling Reishi mushrooms and Glisodin?

Well, I’m still cold-free so they must be working! x
