Pai's Maori origins stem from my mother's New Zealand roots and from the use of natural ingredients in our products.
Many of these have been used by Maoris, and other indigenous groups, to heal and protect the skin for centuries.
I was first inspired to create a natural skincare range after years of suffering from a bad skin allergy.
Doctors told me that the only treatment was to take high dose anti-histamine tablets on a daily basis.
Fed up with popping pills that just masked the problem, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I started researching all the products I used, to see if there were common ingredients triggering my attacks.
What I discovered shocked me:

Many chemicals used in skincare products can irritate the skin and cause allergies.

These toxins build up in the body and have been linked to wider health problems such as hormone disruption and even cancer.

Cosmetics companies use these chemicals because they are cheap and extend product shelf-life.
I quit my job, completed a series of courses in natural skincare and got to work researching and developing a plant-based, chemical-free range. The result is Pai.
