Why You'll Love It

THE PROOF IS IN THE CALM.

Our bestselling moisturiser was formulated with reactive skin in mind. So you get all-day hydration and calm. Think of it as a circuit breaker for your skin: it settles flare-ups and irritation, visibly reduces the appearance of redness, and supports your skin barrier with continued use.

We use premium organic CO2 extracts of Chamomile and Rosehip to get the highest potency possible, because standard essential and cold-pressed oils just won't cut it. CO2 extraction works at low temperatures in a sealed, oxygen-free environment, so every key compound inside, calming Matricin and Bisabolol, protective Chamazulene, and regenerative omegas 3, 6 and 9, remains intact and ready to get to work.

How do we know it works? We tested it. 96-hour patch tests on sensitive and eczema-prone skin. An independent consumer trial with 112 women. The results: 84% felt instantly soothed, 97% said it helped soothe dry skin after 28 days, and 80% said it visibly reduced the appearance of redness.

Stressed skin feels at ease, and you feel like yourself again.

Directions

Massage 1-2 pumps into clean, dry skin on face and neck. Use daily in the mornings or whenever your skin needs a moisture top-up.

Key Ingredients

  • Chamomile

An iconic skin soother at its most potent and efficacious. We use premium organic CO2 extraction to ensure the cooling and calming Matricine and Chamazulene inside remain perfectly intact.

  • Rosehip

Rosehip Oil is much more than just a glow-giver. In its purest form – like ours – it’s like giving your skin a full under the hood service. Omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9 do the repair job, while antioxidant carotenoids protect from further damage.

Sarah Brown, Pai Founder

“This is the product so many customers told us was life-changing in helping them regain control of their unpredictable skin. It’s down to the very select set of ingredients, in a formula that won't cause overwhelm. And its beautiful texture and comforting aroma is testament to the fact you needn't compromise on sensory benefits to care for sensitive skin – a philosophy we live by."

Frequently Asked Questions

What skin types is The Anthemis best suited for?

It's designed for normal, dry, and hypersensitive skin, and is particularly well suited if you experience reactive episodes, contact dermatitis, or environmental sensitivity. The nourishing base of jojoba (a wax ester that mimics your skin's natural sebum), safflower (rich in linoleic acid), shea butter, and apricot kernel oil provides comfortable hydration without heaviness. It's also free from alcohol, parabens, silicones, sulfates, mineral oil, and synthetic fragrance.

How do I use The Anthemis in a full skincare routine?

Massage 1-2 pumps into clean, dry skin on your face and neck each morning. For a full calming routine, start with Middlemist Seven Gentle Cream Cleanser, spritz Century Flower Barrier Defence Mist, then apply The Anthemis. In the evening, you can layer Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil on top for overnight replenishment, and in the morning, finish with British Summer Time SPF 30 as your final step.

Can I use The Anthemis on rosacea-prone skin?

Yes. German chamomile has vasoconstrictor properties that help reduce visible flushing and redness. In an independent trial of 112 sensitive skin subjects, 80% said it visibly reduced the appearance of redness and 90% said skin looked calmer after 28 days. The formula is 96-hour patch tested on sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Does The Anthemis help with dry skin?

It does. A 24-hour clinical study on 20 subjects confirmed it provides sustained moisturisation across all timepoints up to 24 hours. In a separate independent consumer trial of 112 women with sensitive skin, 97% said it helped soothe dry skin and 91% said skin felt less tight after 28 days of use.

Does The Anthemis contain fragrance or essential oils?

There's no synthetic fragrance in the formula. It does include small amounts of geranium and lavender essential oils. The finished formula has been 96-hour patch tested on volunteers with sensitive and eczema-prone skin, but lavender is a recognised contact allergen in some individuals, so if you have a known essential oil sensitivity, patch test before use.

Is The Anthemis safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Yes, The Anthemis is certified pregnancy and breastfeeding safe. It does contain small amounts of geranium and lavender essential oils, so if you prefer to avoid essential oils during your first trimester, consider waiting until your second trimester before introducing it.

Can I use Rosehip Oil with The Anthemis?

Absolutely. The Anthemis already contains CO2-extracted rosehip seed for barrier support, but layering Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil on top in the evening adds extra overnight replenishment. Apply The Anthemis first, then a few drops of the oil to lock everything in.

What certifications does The Anthemis have?

The Anthemis is COSMOS Organic certified by the Soil Association, Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free, and registered vegan. It's 99.9% natural and 70% organic (excluding water), independently dermatologist tested and approved, non-comedogenic (so it won't clog pores), and RSPO palm certified. The finished formula is also 96-hour patch tested for tolerance, including on volunteers with eczema-prone skin.

What makes the chamomile in The Anthemis different from other chamomile skincare?

Most chamomile skincare uses steam-distilled essential oil (listed as "flower oil" on the label), which degrades matricin, chamomile's most potent anti-inflammatory compound, into chamazulene with only one-tenth of the activity. The Anthemis uses CO2 supercritical extraction, which preserves the full complex of bioactives in their native form: matricin, α-bisabolol (up to 45% of the volatile oil fraction), bisabolol oxides, flavonoids like apigenin and luteolin, and chamazulene precursors. Research from the University of Trieste found fresh chamomile CO2 extract is approximately 40% more anti-inflammatory than dried flower extract, which already substantially outperforms essential oil.

Why should I choose The Anthemis over other calming moisturisers?

The Anthemis tackles reactive skin from two angles at once: CO2-extracted chamomile suppresses inflammation through multiple molecular pathways (PLA2 inhibition, NF-κB modulation, leukotriene suppression), while CO2-extracted rosehip delivers essential fatty acids that rebuild the barrier so triggers are less likely to get through. The formula is kept intentionally minimal, so hypersensitive skin encounters fewer potential triggers without sacrificing performance. In an independent trial of 112 women with sensitive skin, 84% said skin felt instantly soothed after first use, and 86% said skin felt less sensitive after 28 days.

Can Chamomile really calm skin effectively?

The chamomile extraction has serious clinical credentials. In a controlled study of 72 patients, a topical chamomile solution healed inflammatory skin lesions significantly faster than 1% hydrocortisone ointment, with a mean healing time of 8.89 days versus 14.53 days (p = 0.001), and pain and itching resolved more quickly too. A separate clinical study found German chamomilla extract cream matched hydrocortisone's efficacy and outperformed two other anti-inflammatory treatments. These results refer to the chamomile extract itself, not the finished Anthemis formula, but they're exactly why we chose CO2-extracted chamomile as the hero active.
