This rich cream cleanser is made for dry, delicate and sensitive skin. It feels luxurious but never heavy, and it's alcohol-free, so it cleanses without leaving skin tight.

At its heart is Camellia Seed Oil, which is rich in omega-6 and antioxidant polyphenols. It melts away even waterproof makeup, dirt and impurities while helping to support your skin barrier, so skin is left soft and replenished, never stripped.

Squeeze the cleanser into hands, massaging the formula all over the face, including the eyes.

With a warm, damp cloth, gently sweep over your face and eyes to lift away all traces of makeup and cleanser.

How do I choose between Phaze and Middlemist Seven?

Phaze is a gently foaming face wash with mild exfoliating properties, designed for oily and combination skin that's prone to breakouts or congestion. Middlemist Seven is a richer, surfactant-free cream cleanser that actively conditions while it cleans, making it the better choice for dry, reactive, or sensitive skin. If your skin feels tight or stripped after washing, Middlemist Seven is the one to try.

What makes Middlemist Seven different from other gentle cleansers?

Most cleansers, even those labelled "gentle" or "for sensitive skin", rely on surfactants that can strip the skin's protective lipids and disrupt its pH. Middlemist Seven contains zero surfactants of any kind. It uses a trio of plant oils (castor, camellia, sweet almond) to dissolve dirt and makeup on contact, so your skin's moisture barrier, acid mantle, and natural oil balance stay completely intact.

When should I use this in my routine?

Middlemist Seven is the first step in your skincare routine. Massage 1-2 pumps onto dry skin, remove with the dampened Dual-Effect Cloth, then follow with your serum and moisturiser. You can also pair it with Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil as a double cleanse: Light Work first to dissolve heavy makeup and SPF, then Middlemist Seven to deep-cleanse and condition.

How often should I use Middlemist Seven?

For most skin types we recommend cleansing with Middlemist Seven in the morning and evening.

If you have very sensitive skin, it's best to keep your routine as simple as possible and cleanse just once a day in the evening.

Does Middlemist Seven remove heavy makeup and sunscreen?

It removes all everyday makeup, including waterproof mascara. The plant oils dissolve makeup on contact without any need for surfactants. For days with heavier makeup or high-SPF sunscreen, try a double cleanse: Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil first to cut through the heavy layers, then Middlemist Seven to deep-cleanse and condition.

Can I remove the cleanser without the cloth?

Not effectively. Because Middlemist Seven is 100% detergent-free, it won't emulsify with water and rinse off the way a surfactant cleanser does. The included Dual-Effect Face Cloth is integral to how it works: the muslin side provides gentle mechanical exfoliation and lifts dissolved impurities, while the soft terry side does a final sweep for delicate areas like around the eyes. Using the cloth also means you avoid rinsing with tap water, which can disrupt skin pH, particularly in hard water areas.

How do I care for and replace the Dual-Effect Face Cloth?

Rinse your cloth thoroughly after each use and hang it to dry. Machine wash regularly at a low temperature to keep it fresh and hygienic. Over time the muslin fibres will soften and lose their gentle exfoliating texture, so replacement cloth packs are available separately when yours needs retiring.

Is Middlemist Seven suitable for oily or breakout-prone skin?

Yes. The formula is non-comedogenic, and Sweet Almond Oil helps dissolve the excess sebum responsible for clogging pores. Oil-based cleansing also avoids the rebound oiliness that can happen when surfactant cleansers strip too much and your skin overproduces oil to compensate. That said, if you prefer a lightly foaming wash and are actively prone to breakouts and congestion, Phaze may be a better daily fit.

Great for my perimenopausal rosacea skin

"Finally after years of suffering with acne and hard spots that took months to go away I was diagnosed with rosacea. I had to change my entire routine so I went as simple as I could. Gave away my spa cupboard of the usual suspects and used only this cleanser and my treatment at night and in the morning just a water cleanse the Pai Century Flower mist and a moisturiser. "I am in love with this cleanser! It's the first cleanser I've used that doesn't feel like its stripped my skin bare or super sensitive after using. I tried both, Middlemist Seven and the new Phaze, love them both but Phaze leaves my skin a little clearer but also less moisturized. I am thinking of using them together as a double cleanse, do you think that is a good idea?

I often wash my face in the shower. Is this cleanser still effective if applied to damp skin? Thanks!
Hi JS, Thank you for getting in touch. You may find it helpful to not wash your face in the shower as the water is hotter than we realise on our face. Over time this can be harsh and very drying on the skin. Middlemist Seven is best used on dry skin and then removed with lukewarm water and the cloth, follow with a final rinse of water. If you like to use a cleanser on damp skin you could try our new Phaze cleanser.
